We know that responsible breeding is of the greatest importance to secure a future of healthy and happy dogs suited to perform the tasks we ask them to. In the NKU, the Nordic countries work closely together on a number of issues related to breeding

Through the years, the NKU has made and implemented a number of important decisions in order to help breeders and kennel clubs work towards sustainable breeding of pedigree dogs.

  • Recognise new dog breeds

    NKU decided in 2018 on new rules for recognition of breeds that are not recognised by the FCI. Breeds can be recognised by any of the NKU-countries and the other countries should be informed at NKU/AU meetings.
