Commissions

The NKU Scientific Commission consists of experts in different fields of science, for example genetics and veterinary medicine. The committee aims to harmonise regulations, health evaluations and other important aspects of the work of the Nordic kennel clubs.

The purpose of the Obedience Commission is to find common strategies to develop and co-ordinate the sport of obedience in the Nordic countries. An important part of the committee’s work is also to find common Nordic standpoints on issues discussed by the FCI.

The Youth Commission works to find common strategies to develop and co-ordinate youth activities in the Nordic countries.

The Freestyle/HTM Committee meets once a year to discuss important issues related to Freestyle and Heelwork to music, HTM. Among other things, the committee works to find common strategies to develop and co-ordinate the sport in the Nordic countries.

The purpose of the Hunting Commission is to find common strategies concerning the use, training and trails for all different sorts of hunting dogs used in the Nordic countries. The Hunting Commission makes suggestions about hunting issues to the NKU Executive Committee.

The Show Commission started to discuss and to harmonize the show rules in the Nordic countries. The work has, after having harmonized the rules, intensified through the years when the Nordic Dog Shows has become more common in each country. Today the group is more a associtation who discuss and work with common show-related issues.

The Rally Obedience committée meets one to three times a year to discuss rally obedience related issues and how the Nordic countries can work more closely together to develop common rules and co-ordinate sport activities.

The Agility Commission meets once a year to discuss important agility-related issues and how the Nordic countries can work together to develop and co-ordinate the sport.

The executive directors of the Nordic kennel clubs usually come together shortly before the Executive Committee meeting. The executive directors meet to discuss important national and Nordic issues in preparation for the Executive Committee meeting.
