The Danish-Swedish farmdog (Dansk-Svensk Gårdshund) was recognized in Denmark and Sweden in 1987. The breed has been known for a long time on farms in Denmark and Sweden. The farmdog is mainly used as a active companion dog today, but also as watchdog and ratter.
The Drever is no doubt one of the great favourites among Swedish hunters. No other hunting scent hound shares its popularity in numbers. The breed is considered to be a mentally stable dog with very strong hunting instinct.
The Gotland Hound (Gotlandsstövare) is a beautiful scent hound with strong hunting instinct, bred for hunting hare and fox. The breed is friendly with lively personality and needs regular exercise. It is a very rare dog breed, even in Sweden.
The Hamilton Hound (Hamiltonstövare) is a versatile scent hound, specialist in hunting hare and fox. Despite having a very strong hunting instinct, it has a friendly, gentle and social nature, making an excellent family dog. It is one of Sweden's most popular dog breeds.
The Hällefors Elkhound (Hälleforshund) is a large hunting spitz with strong hunting instinct, expecially for big game. It is known for its high energy levels and bravery. It is a strong and sturdy breed, capable of handling challenging environments.
The Norrbottenspitz (Norrbottenspets) is a smaller hunting spitz. It is alert, keen and agile. The breed is mainly known as an excellent hunting dog for forest game birds, such as large forest grouse, capercaillie and black grouse.
The Schiller Hound (Schillerstövare) is homogenous, stable in both looks and working ability and a very thorough and keen tracker. It is still considered by many to be the best scent hound for hunting fox and it is highly appreciated for its most powerful, clean voice.
