Deworming and Certificates
Planning your journey home after European Dog Show 2026? Make sure your dog meets all travel requirements and find out how to arrange deworming and official health certificates on site.
Health certificates and deworming
For some countries dogs require a health certificate issued in Sweden before they can return home. As the owner, you are responsible for ensuring that your dog meets all applicable entry requirements and travels with the correct documentation.
We strongly recommend that you start planning well in advance, as some requirements may take three to four weeks to complete.
Please note that some certificates must be issued by an Official Veterinarian, while others may be issued by any licensed veterinarian. Official Veterinarians in Sweden are appointed by the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket) and are authorised to issue official animal health certificates for international travel, a responsibility that not all veterinarians may undertake. Here we will help yo to get in touch with the Official Veterinarian.
Before travelling, please check with the relevant authorities in your home country to determine whether an Official Veterinarian is required.
Traces-certificate
If your country requires a TRACES-certificate it has to be pre-registered (online) by an Official Veterinarian here in Sweden. Do it here:
Distriktsveterinärerna , Fill in the form (in Swedish only, but if needed, please use Google translate), then at the bottom of the form at “Välj din mottagning”; choose Vårsta.
For TRACES you will need the following information:
- European Dog Show 2026
- Adress of venue Stockholmsmässan: Mässvägen 1, Älvsjö
- Facility number/TRACES number: SE358979

Other certificate issued by official veterinarian
If the authorities in your country have their own certificate that must be completed by an official veterinarian; send an email to Distriktsveterinärerna Vårsta, and describe your circumstances and journey.
Important: You must bring the certificate required by your country to the appointment. If your dog also requires parasite treatment or deworming, you must bring the medication with you.
Deworming
Dogs traveling to, or via, for example Finland, Norway, Ireland, Malta, or the United Kingdom must be treated against the fox tapeworm (Echinococcus multilocularis). There are also countries outside the EU that require this treatment. Check with the veterinary authorities in the destination country to determine whether deworming is required.
If your dog needs to be dewormed for the Echinococcus multilocilaris, the fox tapeworm:
- You´ll need to bring deworming tablets containing praziquantel or epsiprantel
- You need to pre-register, see link below.
- Note! Deworming services are available in connection with the SKK Shop in the main entrance area 07:00 -09:00, 11:00-12:00 and 13:00-14:00.:
Deworming at European Dogshow 2026
We recommend deworming into Sweden too
Since the fox tapeworm is already present in Sweden, there are no deworming requirements for the import of dogs into Sweden. However, Jordbruksverket recommend that dogs brought into Sweden from other countries be dewormed against the fox tapeworm (anti-echinococcus worm treatment) before travelling to Sweden.
Checklist before travel
- I have contacted the veterinary authorities in the destination countries as well as home country, and I know now which requirements apply and if and what certificates are needed.
a. Check if the country has its own official certificate
b. Check if parasite treatment is required
c. If relevant, I have found out what rules apply to animals that travel without their owner, travel in a group of more than 5 animals to compete or train, or which are changing owners - I have preregistered for issuing a TRACES certificate, choose Vårsta at “Välj din mottagning”, OR contact Distriktsveterinärerna Vårsta for other certificates.
- The dog is ID-marked.
- The dog has a valid rabies vaccination (not needed for dogs living i Norway)
- The dog is vaccinated against distemper according to SKKs requirements
